Mentorship Program

One goal of the New Professionals NWACUHO Taskforce is to provide mentorship opportunities to new professionals to aid their development in the field. Members of the NWACUHO community want to reach out to help and connect with someone who wants to learn more about the next step in the profession, whether that is a current graduate student, new professionals or aspiring midlevel professional. An unwritten rule in the Student Affairs world has always been that you pay that “mentoring” forward, to grow our profession and propel it forward.

The NWACUHO New Professional Taskforce would like to provide an opportunity for you to serve as a mentor and/or mentee, and you can sign up by following the links below.

Anyone is welcome to sign up to be a mentor or a mentee depending on what you are looking to gain from that experience. Expectations for mentors and mentees will be, once matched up, for mentors to contact their mentee and discuss the frequency and method in which you wish to communicate. You can e-mail, Skype, follow each other on Twitter, and maybe even look for each other at regional and national conferences. The vision is to have mentees ask questions and for advice, and then the mentors will provide what guidance they can.

It may also be fun to discuss current events and topics relevant to the field, as they arise. If you need any assistance in how to approach this relationship or suggestions on topics to discuss, We would be happy to discuss these ideas further. As professional staff members, we trust your ability to provide guidance and leadership to a new professional, but be assured that you will be provided support from this committee as you engage in this relationship.
