STARS Conference Scholarship

Purpose

The ACUHO-I STARS College is an educational program for undergraduate students who are interested in a career in housing and residence life. The STARS College is held as a pre-conference workshop at the annual ACUHO-I Conference each summer. STARS provides opportunities for participants to learn more about the field of housing and residence life as well as
mentoring from experienced professionals in the field.

What is the Scholarship

NWACUHO has $1000 of needs-based funds set aside to assist individuals once they have been accepted into STARS college. These funds come out of the general operating budget of NWACUHO. Applicants will be considered upon the following:

Criteria

  • Must have at least one full year of college left after summer of attendance.
  • Must have demonstrated significant interest in housing via involvements and/or jobs during time at college.
  • Must participate in “Post-STARS” efforts including: future colleges, discussion lists, marketing, possible STARS College staff involvement.
  • Must be willing to pay the registration fee (covers: 3 nights double occupancy, registration materials and meal package), plus transportation costs to the conference site.
  • Must attend and fully participate in the STARS College

Application Process

  • After ACUHO-I contacts the NWACUHO Past-President with a list of participants, the Board will contact any NWACUHO members attending STARS College with information on how to apply for the needs-based scholarship.
