Job Summary:
Lead and facilitate the staff, program development, and facility management of a College residential area. Provide a safe living environment and maximize the living/learning experience for residential students. Actively collaborate with and support Student Life departments. Ability to honor and work with all identities and individuals, particularly those who are underrepresented in the country and/or at Lewis & Clark College.

Minimum Qualifications:
•       Master’s degree in Student Personnel or Higher Education Administration or related field
•       Organizational skills
•       1 year of experience of demonstrated commitment to student and community development.
•       1 year of experience of demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional and
collaborative relationships with other staff and faculty.
•       1 year of experience of expressed and demonstrated commitment to diversity.
•       1 year of experience of demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication, leadership,
organization, and administrative skills.
•       1 year of experience in some combination of the following: educational programs, residential
leadership, supervision, mediation, advising, or judicial affairs.
•       Experience with a residential living community (preferably Student Life/Residence Life Experience
i.e., Resident Assistant or Resident Director)
•       Leadership, organization, prepare weekly agendas, to-do lists, manage interpersonal conflict,
schedule duty, coordinate activities, etc.
•       Basic computer skills (Email, Word Processing, Filemaker, etc.)
•       Experience in crisis situations and crisis management; ability to remain calm and collected under
pressure.
•       Diplomacy
•       Counseling and Mediation

Preferred Qualifications:
•       2 years of experience of demonstrated commitment to student and community development.
•       2 years of experience of demonstrated ability to develop and maintain professional and
collaborative relationships with other staff and faculty.
•       2 years of experience of expressed and demonstrated commitment to diversity.
•       2 years of experience of demonstrated excellent interpersonal communication, leadership,
organization, and administrative skills.
•       1 year of experience with a working knowledge of budget procedures
•       Counseling and Mediation
•       Human Development
•       Budgeting
•       Supervision experience
•       Experience in Judicial Affairs or similar
•       Excellent communication (written and oral)
•       Experience in an academic liberal arts community

Essential Functions:
Cultivate positive relationships with residential students to develop a strong knowledge base of the community and its needs.

Supervise, mentor, and evaluate student paraprofessional staff with emphasis on leadership growth. Assist with the development and implementation of a comprehensive training program for all student staff including August training, regular in-service, January training and spring orientation/training.

Participate in weekly on-call rotation for campus emergencies (which includes but is not limited to: after hours facilities issues, student medical/psychological emergencies, campus wide issues such as fire and power, policy violations, and situations which require police presence).

Administer housing process for assigned residential area, including roommate placement, in-hall room changes, room reassignments, opening and closing procedures and occupancy reports.

Develop learning outcomes and employ pedagogical strategies reflective of a residential learning community. Monitor program delivery that supports departmental objectives. Develop and assess learning outcomes for applicable living-learning communities, working closely with appropriate faculty, staff, and students to ensure its success.

Provide support to struggling students, communicate with appropriate parties to coordinate student support efforts. Update Student Support and Maxient databases. Adjudicate student conduct cases, generate educational sanctions, and maintain prompt communication and accurate record keeping throughout the conduct process.
