Job Summary
The Associate Director of Westside Student Life provides administrative leadership for student success programs and services at the CWU Centers in Western Washington, specifically Pierce County, Des Moines, and Lynnwood. This occurs through the leadership, partnership, supervision, development, management and evaluation of student success programs including: support of student clubs; stewardship and administration of budgets; advocacy for student rights and administration of the student conduct code; provision of disability services; and other student success initiatives.

Job Duties
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & SUPERVISION
– Recruit, hire, train, supervise and evaluate professional and student employees to the successful completion of their duties including: activity management, implementation and student support. Supervise all employees to completion of duties including: mentoring student leaders, working to establish student services programs, and implementation of policies and procedures.
– Administer and oversee the student code of conduct and academic suspensions processes for Westside students including: documenting situations, meeting with key participants, working with Chief Conduct Officer in the office of Rights and Responsibilities on appropriate student hearings and sanctions, and follow-up with students. Proactively work with faculty and staff for the purpose of addressing student behavioral problems and issues at the Westside Centers.
– In collaboration with Regional Directors, develop and implement student leadership activities, programs and events.
-Provide support, advisement and referral to students with regards to enhancing academic and personal success and club activity.
– Facilitate leadership training and development for Student Leadership Group members.
– Direct need assessments and evaluate programs with input from students, community college partners and administration.
– Advance the vision, mission and strategic priorities of the Westside Centers through work groups, communities, alumni groups and leadership teams and implementing and evaluating the “seamless student learning model” at the Westside Centers.
– Coordinate the planning and organization of the Westside Center recognition ceremonies to honor students, faculty, staff and community members.
– Assist in the coordination and facilitation of new student orientation with stakeholders at the Pierce, Des Moines, and Lynnwood Centers.
– Develop programs for non-traditional, upper division adult students.
– Support and participate in annual Westside Center commencement activities.

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
– Work collaboratively with the Disability Services to provide disability accommodations for students, faculty, and staff with disabilities.
– Provide referrals to other university resources at the Community Colleges, CWU Ellensburg/University Centers or the local community as needed.
– Collaborate with the university’s Diversity and Inclusion Officer.
– Provide vision, leadership and long-term strategic planning for the following program areas at the four Westside Centers: diversity, inclusion, and social responsibility education including globalization, globalism, social equity, internationalization, cross-cultural understanding, cisgender identities and formation, feminist theory, ethnic and racial identities, race and white privilege, cultural hegemony, class, religious oppressions and adult learners and families.
– Provide leadership of Seamless Learning as it pertains to diversity, inclusion, and social equity and social responsibility for all students from diverse and international backgrounds at the four Westside Centers in all aspects of student life.
– Bring awareness of the contributions that Westside Center students, staff, and faculty from diverse and international backgrounds bring to the educational community and learning environment.

FISCAL MANAGEMENT AND ASSESSMENT
– Oversee, manage, and administer all Student Life budgets for Westside Center-Student Success programs.
– Prepare, audit, verify, process and reconcile final documents such as requisitions, invoices, receipts, payroll forms, petty cash, pro card purchases through People Soft and FMS.
– Develop and deliver budget presentations for quadrennial and supplemental funding to S & A.
– Administer student club accounting policies and procedures by meeting with club officers and providing administrative and budgetary support including operating cash, deposits and reimbursements, travel authorizations, purchase requisitions.
– Coordinate appropriate expenditures with supervisor, in collaboration with Regional Directors and community college partners as needed.

INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COLLABORATIONS
– Collaborate with Regional Directors in working with host campuses and local communities to develop student services and activities on behalf of CWU students in Western Washington including access to programs and services and thematic programming and events.
– Collaborate on assessment of programs and activities with community college partners. Attend applicable committee meetings that directly correlate to the development of student life and services for students.
– Develop partnerships and collaborations with Westside Centers’ faculty and staff to educate and build awareness on social equity issues of diverse and international populations confront on a daily basis during their educational experience at the Westside Centers.
-Collaborate with Community College partners to ensure the inclusion of students from diverse and international populations in the broader aspects of the educational environment at the all of the Westside Centers and surrounding communities.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.
Demonstrated commitment and success in serving diverse student and community populations.
Demonstrated the ability to manage budgets and/or fiscal operations, such as accounts payable/accounts receivable, auditing, analysis, budgeting, bookkeeping and/or purchasing.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated commitment to institutional and systemic diversity and inclusion in a university environment.
Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, partner, implement and evaluate new and continuing student focused programs, functions, and services.
Demonstrated experience in leading, managing, supervising and evaluating professional and/or student staff.
Demonstrated strategic planning skills.
Ability to travel on a weekly basis amongst Pierce County, Des Moines and Lynnwood Centers for the management of the Student Life programs.
Ability to work with multiple campus partners in the effective management of student success crisis, problems and issues.
Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Student Development Administration or College Personnel Administration or Education or closely related field or equivalent experience, training, and/or education.
Demonstrated experience in higher education administration in the following areas: student development based programing; disability accommodations; student rights and responsibilities; and retention theory and practice.
Demonstrated experience developing, implementing, administering, managing and evaluating innovative student development and learning programs, functions and services.
Demonstrated experience working with non-traditional adult student populations

Pay,Benefits, & Work Schedule
Salary: $50,000-$58,000 annually

Schedule/Appointment: Monday – Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm (1 hour lunch)

Working Conditions: Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions.  It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records.  Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
