Two Residence Director positions at Portland State University

Portland State University is hiring for two Residence Director positions.  This position is responsible for the oversight of a residential community or programmatic area of campus.  The Residence Director position is a full-time professional staff position, responsible for supervising paraprofessional staff.  The Residence Director position is a live-in position, and responds to resident concerns after-hours and the ability to be available on evenings and weekends is required.

Two positions are currently available:

The Residence Director – Broadway position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Residence Life program in Broadway Residence Hall & the First Year Experience Program.  The Residence Director position is responsible for staff supervision, residential education, community development, crisis management, student conduct and community operations.

The Residence Director – Blumel and Epler position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the Residence Life program in Blumel & Epler Residence Halls.  The Residence Director position is responsible for staff supervision, residential education, community development, crisis management, student conduct and community operations.

University Housing & Residence Life’s mission is to provide housing options for Portland State students while providing a unique living experience in Portland’s urban environment through actively engaged residential communities that promote student success.

This is a live-in, full-time, fixed-term, 12-month unclassified, unrepresented, overtime-exempt appointment. Applicants for this position are subject to a criminal background check.

Minimum Qualifications

-Bachelor’s Degree.

-Experience in a leadership role within Housing and Residence Life or Student Affairs.

-Ability to live in a residence hall (apartment provided).

-Ability to work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends) to meet residents’ needs.

Other Preferred Qualifications

-Experience working in a college or university environment.

-Previous Residence Life experience

-Seeking enrollment in a Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, Counseling, or similar program
