This is a full-time, 12-month, annually renewable, unclassified position in the Division of Student Affairs at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. The purpose of University Housing at Western Oregon University is to house students, primarily first year students, in campus housing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Master’s degree
• Minimum two years’ experience advising student groups – either at the para-professional or professional level

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience as a professional staff member in a college residential program

A criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Educational/Advising
• Advise RHA Executive Board and General Assembly and programming efforts of RHA
• Meet regularly with RHA Executive Board to assess concerns, questions, and progress. Provide ongoing formal and informal evaluations.
• Direct goal setting, training and development of staff including documentation and follow-up, as necessary
• Serve as campus conference advisor for NACURH affiliated conferences
• Meet monthly with the Advising Resident Assistants, assist the Advising RA in advising hall government with hall budgets and program planning.
• Attend and actively participate in WOU Leadershop conferences.
• Facilitate the planning of programs, activities, and projects which improve the recreational, social, and learning environment in assigned hall.
• Be a resource person for improving competencies on problem solving, mediation, residence hall programming, counseling, referrals, etc.
• Refer potential leaders to appropriate offices for further development.
• Responsible for knowing referral channels and opportunities to better serve students.
• Identify and help develop leadership potential in each student.
• Encourage student participation in challenging experiences and academic achievement through personal contact, programming, and facility management.
• Assist students concerning academic, social and personal needs and matters.
• Actively recruit, build, and maintain connections with faculty/staff partners for the Live/Learn program in Ackerman Hall
• Assist Associate Director for University Housing with planning and implementation of Resident Assistant Training Course, Resident Director Training, Advising RA Fall Training, and University Housing Student Staff Fall and Winter Training.
• Attend required training and development meetings and retreats
• Create and implement “in-service” development with staff.
• Be involved with University Housing staff orientation and with individual hall staff orientation at beginning of year.
Programming
• Coordinate student programming resources and weekend programming initiatives for residence hall students and participate in the weekend programs committee
• Plan and implement large scale weekend programs during the academic year with the help of residence hall staff and a Program Assistant.
Administrative
• Serve as a member of the Residential Education team
• Assist with annual departmental assessment plan and summer conferences program
• Work with numerous campus committees
• Hold regular office hours during the week.
• Provide an administrative structure which encourages creativity and provides motivation.
• Ensure that necessary reports and other work required by the Office of University Housing are accurately completed in accordance with deadlines and procedures established by University Housing.
• Respond to requests for information promptly
Budget
• Monitor RHA and GA budgets
• Manage Weekend Programs and Live/Learn Partnership budgets
