The mission of HFS—working together to enhance student life—guides everything we do as a department. We are dedicated to working collaboratively to make a positive difference in the lives of students.
HFS houses approximately 6,400 students in residence halls and in single and family-housing apartments. Each of our eight residence halls has a different resident capacity and personality, and they each provide an environment conducive to student learning and community development.
Our goal as a department is to provide facilities, programs and services that support the growth and development of our students—academically, socially and civically—helping prepare them to be global citizens and leaders of the future.
The Residential Life Program is at the core of what differentiates living on campus from other student living environments. Resident Directors at the UW closely collaborate with colleagues, staff, student leaders and residents in creating communities that are open, purposeful, just, disciplined, caring and celebratory.
